Alesund is a port town surrounded by small islands with an airport located on one of them called Vigra. This beautiful city full of attractions is crisscrossed by charming streets and decorated with colorful houses. Alesund is located just 80 km from the village of Norddal. You can get there by car or public transport in approx. 2 hours.
You should visit Alesund in the morning and after a whole day of sightseeing, you can come back for a well-deserved rest in Norddal with a glass of wine and evening chillout by the fjord.

Alesund, apart from beautiful architecture, offers a lot of attractions. The most popular is a viewpoint, located on the hill near the downtown. This trip is also a great point to look at during your way back from the airport. It’s close by and it does not take much time. The view is definitely worth a bit of effort to climb on 418 steps.
From the top, you will see a great panorama, stretching from the North Sea on one side, to the Sunnmøre Alps on the other, the town center with its beautiful buildings and the island of Runde will lie at your feet.
In the suburbs of Alesund, there is a place called Atlanterhavsparken. This giant Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in Northern Europe. During the tour, you can see millions of marine animal species. Few times a day you can watch the feeding of otters, seals, and penguins. After a long sightseeing tour, you can sit in Atlanterhavsparken restaurant and drink a nice coffee.
For walk lovers, an interesting solution is to visit the lighthouses standing in various places of Alesund. The view of the sea from the top is beautiful and also there are definitely fewer steps to pass than on a viewpoint tour.

Alesund is also a cultural center. It is worth going to one of the museums for an art exhibition or a guided tour. There is a lot to choose from: The Fisheries Museum, Natural History Museum, Art Galleries in the city center and more.
There are many attractions, from kayaking trips through the canals between tenement houses to climbing trips, waterparks, or fun park.
Don’t forget that Alesund is a city full of shops and atmospheric restaurants, it’s a good place to collect souvenirs and eat something delicious.
